Pre-event information
Facilities
Refreshments: We will provide tea, coffee and a basic packed lunch. Please bring a water bottle and a reusable mug with you to fill up throughout the day. There are food outlets nearby if you’d like to buy something of your own.
Toilets: There are accessible toilets located at the venue.
Stand: Each confirmed organisation will be provided with a table and two chairs. We can’t supply backboards so please bring your own boards or pull-up banners. If you’re bringing any electrical items, make sure they’re fully charged and PAT tested.
WiFi: You will be able to use the Univeristy’s guest WiFi, UoM_Guest, at the event. It's easy to use - just connect to the UoM_Guest network on your laptop or mobile device, open your web browser and follow the onscreen instructions. You can register with your Google, Facebook or Twitter account, or you can register via a text (SMS) message sent to your phone.
Cash Point: The nearest cash point is across the road in the small Sainsbury's supermarket on Oxford Road.
Staffing: A team of staff will be available to help you throughout the day, including setting up your stand, getting refreshments and helping you to pack away. Don’t hesitate to ask one of us if you need anything!
Sustainability
We are trying to make this event as sustainable as possible. This includes:
- Encouraging you to use sustainable transport to travel to the event.
- Keeping single-use plastic to a minimum.
- Increasing the number of vegetarian and vegan options for lunch.
- Keeping paper printing to a minimum, including not using paper sign-up sheets. Please encourage students to sign up to your opportunities on Volunteer Hub and the Sport Volunteer Scheme.
Please help us in our aim to be sustainable by recycling waste materials.
Coronavirus information
Although the risk of coronavirus spread is small at the moment, we will be maintaining a number of measures to reduce the risk of coronavirus spread at this event. Please contact us to discuss any of these measures or any concerns that you have. These include:
- Providing good ventilation at the venue. Please wear layers to ensure that you are comfortable in the venue.
- Limiting the number of people staffing stands.
- Providing hand sanitiser for those that would like to use it.
If you wish to wear a face covering, please feel free to bring one to wear.
Other notices
Photography: During the event, members of staff will be taking photographs. These are to publicise the event to students and to promote future events on our website and social media. If you don’t want your photograph taken, please alert the photographer and a member of staff on the day.
Feedback: Event staff will give you an evaluation form near the end of the event to gather your feedback. This helps us to improve future events, so please complete and return your form to a member of staff. And feel free to send us any additional feedback by email after the event!
Set down: The event will close to students at 3pm. Please don’t pack up before this time, so that all students have an opportunity to speak to you. We will help everybody to pack away as quickly as possible once the event has finished.
Stellify Award: Many students at the event will be counting their volunteering towards the Stellify Award. The easiest way to do this is for you to upload their hours to a volunteering opportunity that you have posted on Volunteer Hub.
