International Volunteering Toolkit

If you are interested in developing overseas volunteering in your School or Division please contact us. The advice on these pages has been put together to help support colleagues that are interested in advertising or running overseas volunteering projects and supplements the face-to-face support available from the Volunteering and Community Engagement Team.

The University wide offer includes four main areas:

Team Rwanda

This is the University’s flagship overseas volunteering project, which is a partnership between the University and Azizi Life, a social enterprise working with artisans and their communities in Rwanda. Prior to Team Rwanda, Team Uganda ran from 2015 to 2019 in partnership S.A.L.V.E. International, an organisation working with children living on the streets in Uganda.

Trusted Partners

A list of organisations that run overseas volunteering opportunities. All Trusted Partners have been carefully checked out and meet our criteria for overseas international volunteering projects. The projects cover a range of volunteering projects in various countries.

Support for students to find their own

We provide information, advice and guidance to students who would like to find their own international volunteering project. This includes supporting students who want to establish their own overseas projects.

Academic Schools overseas opportunities

Some Schools at the University also run international volunteering opportunities. For example, the School of Computer Science runs a project in Malawi and the School of Materials provides opportunities with the Live in Labs projects in India.
